2012 Mission's Conference: Chasing Away the Darkness
Our Mission's Conference this year includes (1) a Friday night meet the missionaries small group meetings; (2) Saturday morning breakfast and devotional followed by hands on mission work (3) Sunday morning combined worship and potluck lunch.
Saturday's workday projects included
(1) assembling health kits from the supplies we have been gathering since October
(2) an off site project helping at the Second Harvest Food Bank in Gray, Tennessee
(3) Preparing our building across the street for the FUMC Community Food Pantry by building shelving, moving food and stocking the shelves as well as cleaning.
We are very excited as we embark on this new community effort to feed many families and children who otherwise do not have enough food from week to week to have healthy, nutritious meals.
We are also very happy to have exceeded our goal of 750 health kits for the UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) project which provides "first response" needs to victims of disaster - such as flooding, hurricanes, and others both within our nation and abroad.
We also welcomed our friends from One Mission Society who are here to tell us about how God's love reaches people through efforts of missionaries all around the globe.
