Flood Relief

Hurricane Helene has brought massive damage to our neighbor communities in northeast, Tennessee, southwest, Virginia, and western North Carolina. The relief effort for these affected communities needs to start immediately. There are many ways for you to get involved helping the people who are most affected by the flooding below. You will see opportunities for you to help right now. Of course, this list is not exhaustive, but these are ways, we recommend to help because we know that all of this will go to the people in need.

1. Pray- join us in calling out for peace and comfort for those in loss, generosity and grace for those who are serving other, and wisdom for the leaders who are guiding the efforts.
2. Give financially-. The rebuilding of homes and recouping of things that were lost will be great so if you can offer gift to help those affected it will be very helpful. You can give to the Holston Conference Relief Fund which will keep the money right here in Holston and support the ministries that already in place to support our communities.
3. Pack an UMCOR Cleaning Bucket- These provide simples for people to begin the clean up effort in structures that can be salvaged. (the first of the Buckets have already been sent out to affected communities.)[Full Packing Instructions]
4. Pack an UMCOR Hygiene Kit- These kits provide personal hygiene items for displaced people who evacuated from the floods[Full Packing Instructions]
5. Donate Bottled Water-

Donations of Buckets Kits and Bottled Water can be brought to 1st UMC or taken directly to our District Collection site at Gray UMC.
