About Us:

We are a local congregation of the United Methodist Church. This church has a long history of an active, Christian presence in Johnson City which has been and continues to be involved in our community and world. We celebrate the richness in our tradition and heritage, but also strive to expand our experience by adapting and changing to meet the needs of our community and world today.  All who desire to grow in the grace and knowledge of the love of Christ are welcome to join us on the journey.

This common purpose can be lovingly, joyfully, creatively and effectively carried out in multiple ways, certainly not limited to the few words below. In fact, God brings unique people and unique gifts together to bring about His Kingdom on earth one person, one heart, one soul at a time. Join us in finding, and making your place through:
  • caring for each other and caring for our neighbors
  • sharing your story and sharing His story
  • doing all the good we can, in all the ways we can, for as long as we can through the power of God's love
  • receiving and responding to God's love, by the example and teachings of Christ, and enabled by the Holy Spirit

AN IMPORTANT NOTE FROM THE LEADERSHIP PILLAR:
The Leadership Pillar has been meeting and discussing the future of our church pillars and other areas where our church has a need for service.  One thing is for certain.  1stChurch needs YOU! 

If you are already serving our church either with pillar service or time spent serving in other ways, we want to thank you for all you are doing. 

There a link to a survey for all members and non-members who attend 1stChurch.  This "questionnaire" will help identify your current spiritual gifts and help to find where your gifts may help serve our church in accordance with the gifts which God has blessed us.  We ask that you complete this (either electronically or hard copy) and return to our church office.  If you would like to email your results, please send completed to [email protected].  We thank you for all you CAN do! 

There are two forms:  a list of definitions/descriptions of various spiritual gifts/talents and a survey form which helps you to make an assessment of the areas in which you might be best suited to serve.  The blue link is an older form which is more of an area of interest survey. The Leadership Pillar invites YOU to use these forms, send them in even if you have done something similar before. There are so many ways to serve - they want to make sure you hear, find and listen to your call.
