The SPPRC manages the staffing of the church. Although the pastor in a United Methodist Church is appointed by the Conference, typically the SPPRC is in contact with the District and Conference as part of the process of pastoral appointment. Other than the ordained and candidate clergy, the other staff are hired by this committee. This group is responsible to both the pastor and the congregation and strives to ensure support of the pastor and staff as well as to accurate reflect the needs of the congregation.
