Goodness, Gracias!
For over 35 years, a Holston Conference-team of college students, doctors, nurses, dentists, dental hygienists, pharmacists, pastors and assorted non-medical volunteers have been developing LONG-TERM RELATIONSHIPS through short-term MISSIONS. Over the years hundreds of volunteers have traveled to a couple of small villages and surrounding communities in the mountains of Puebla. Some of the results: churches have grown, medical clinics have developed ongoing care centers, hearts have been changed and literally thousands and thousands of babies, children, teens and adults have received much needed health care, medications, eye glasses, foot care, dental care and education about nutrition and hygiene. And hugs. And Bibles. One member of our church, Anna Kapoor, who has been on 20 teams, is now one of the primary team coordinators. So many of our church family have been supportive of this mission team, and Anna. “We give thanks to God for our church family and all those who support this and other missions. It is a privilege to represent you and we are humbled by your acts of kindness, support, and prayers. Thank you for sharing.” Please remember in your prayer time all of the people who will receive medical care, the cooks who prepare food for the team, the churches in these towns, travel safety and all the volunteers in mission who serve in God’s name to share His love There have been a few team trips which have been cancelled over the years due to political issues, prior pandemics as well as the current COVID-19 crisis. However, the team still coordinates collecting funds to send to our brothers and sisters in Christ. This fall, several cash donations have been provided to send to the pastors to purchase food for people who have not had access. Plans are in the works to continue the medical mission team going to Mexico in 2021.
