Chasing Away the Darkness |
EVERYONE is invited to our misisons conference on FEB. 3-5. It promises to be a great weekend as we learn, serve and worship together...and eat, too!!!
We are blessed to have 4 missionaries who will come and share their stories and lives with us for the weekend. You will not want to miss out as we hear from them and get to know them on a personal level.
We will be doing things a little different on Friday night this year (see schedule below). As we have done the past couple of years, we will spend Sat afternoon in service to our community and the world. We will be gathering in the morning for breakfast and devotions from our missionaries and then we will separate into groups and work on 3 different projects:
(1) putting together the 750 health kits we have collected for over the past few months
(2) going to SECOND HARVEST to work in their warehouse
(3) building shelves, transporting food to FUMC food bank new location
It will be an exciting day at FIRST CHURCH as we work together.
Sunday morning will find us in worship together and then enjoying a great potluck dinner after church. Bring your favorite dish to share.
Schedule
FEB 3, Friday Night 6:30
We will ALL be meeitng at the church and everyone will have the opportunity to meet with each of our missionaries in a grp setting. Refreshments will be served. Babysitting will be provided and YOUTH are invited to come and participate as they will travel together as a group.
If you need transportation, please let us know in the office and we will arrange for someone to pick you up...this is not an inconvience...it is a service we want to provide!!
FEB 4, Saturday 10 am - ?
Meet in the fellowship hall for breakfast at 10. We will hear from our missionaries and then we will be breaking up into grps by 11:30 to do our service projects.
FEB 5, Sunday Morning 10:30 Combined Worship
Sunday School classes will meet together at 9:15 and will hear from one of our missionaries. Then we will worship together and have a potluck dinner after church. Bring your favorite dish to share.
As always, we will be displaying a mission fair downstairs in the fellowship hall... this will be an opportunity for you to see the projects we are presently working on as well as the projects we have set for the summer and the coming year. You will be given the opportunity to sign up to work on an ASP project, the Melting Pot, neighborhood restoration, etc. Come and find out what First Church is doing and be a part of it all!!!
